Music can have a powerful impact on the cognitive development of a young child and plays an important role in the development of higher level reasoning skills. Kindermusik for the Young Child is based on the latest research about early childhood development and provides a variety of musical experiences that enhance the overall development of children.

Between the ages of 5 through 7 years, children are ready to learn the fundamental musical concepts involved in instrument instruction, vocal study and music composition. Kindermsusik for the Young Child provides a group approach to music education in a fun, encouraging, yet structured environment. Your child will learn about rhythm, notation, musical symbols, and how to play simple pre-keyboard, string and woodwind instruments. A variety of styles of music and music of many cultures will be explored. Lessons include creative movement and dance and children will have the opportunity for ensemble development. Kindermusik for the Young Child prepares young musicians for a successful future of formal music training.

Weekly "music at home" cards show you how to provide exciting activities that the family can do together, which is critical to the learning process. Kindermusik provides this element of family participation to allow you to take an active role in your child’s learning, while reinforcing what your child learns in class each week. The variety of musical experiences and learning styles used in the Kindermusik program provides opportunities for every child to gain confidence and an appreciation of her own gifts. In Kindermusik, children are positively affirmed for their unique styles, personalities and abilities.

Materials: These include a high quality CD featuring the semester’s music; song book; storage folder; weekly activity pages and "music at home" cards; rhythm sticks and note chips in games bag; music bag and glockenspiel in Fall of Year One, dulcimer in Fall of Year Two and recorder in Spring of Year Two.

Cost (inclusive of all semester materials and 15 weeks tuition): $228
